White Springs *Stephen Foster State Park* Nov 2014

We stayed here for a few days in between Atlanta and Clearwater.  It was our first time at a State Park, and we liked it a lot.   Stephen Foster is known for songs he wrote in the area, such as “Way Down Upon the Suwannee River”, “Oh!  Susanna”, “Camptown Races” and “My Old Kentucky Home”.

The sites are large and level with screening in between.  There are some historical buildings to go see, including a Carillon Bell Tower, which I should tell you plays every 15 minutes.  We really enjoyed it.  We walked all around and checked out all the little shops.  They were getting ready for the upcoming holidays when we were there, and there were Christmas lights EVERYWHERE!  I bet it was a beautiful site when it was done!

There was no cable, but we did get a couple channels on the batwing.  There was water and electric, but no sewer, but a dump station on the way out.  Water pressure was ok.  The site also had a fire ring, which we put to good use!

very pretty!

This campground is a “Like ‘Em” and we would stay again if we needed a place in the area.
