Ok – so I am trying really hard to get the hang of this blogging business. I want to add some “tabs” and I don’t know how to do it! What are Widgets? Is that another word for “tab”? I am frustrated b/c I feel like this shouldn’t be so difficult. I don’t know if anyone has noticed, but I did purchase the colors and fonts upgrade. I LOVE the color and font on the front page now. Much more “me”.
Before another day goes by, I want to talk about the rally Bill and I just got home from. It was a RV-Dreams Rally. I found the website back last August and starting really reading the blog and forum. They do rallies twice a year and it was too late to sign up for the one last fall, as it was already sold out. While we were away on vacation to Ocean City, MD, we decided to sign up for the Spring 2014 TN rally.
As the time got closer for us to go, my excitement grew. Especially after we bought our truck and 5th Wheel (see pic on front page). I had started purging the house of “stuff” and working on budgets, etc. By March, even though it was getting closer, I thought the time to leave for the rally would never arrive! For those of you who know me – and as a heads up to those who don’t (yet!) – I have very little patience waiting to leave on vacations! We almost always end up leaving early (unless we are flying of course). My expectations for this trip were HUGE as I had read so many great things about their rallies. So, the day to load up the 5er FINALLY came and Bill parked it in the driveway. Many, many, many trips later we were ready to go. Last in the truck were the kitties (in their “beds”) and the dog and away we went!
So, then an interesting thing happened. Not that first travel day, but after we woke up and started driving on Sunday. I started getting nervous. Nervous that “what if this rally sucks?” “what if we spent all this time/money and we have a horrible time?” “what if we don’t like anyone we meet?” “what if no one likes us?” Doubts crept into my head. It is not like me at all to be like that, so it was weird. I am ALWAYS the “silver lining on the black cloud” kind of person. So, this doubt was very strange to me.
Turns out all that doubt and nervousness was completely a waste of energy! We met the most incredible people and could not have had a better time! To say the rally met expectations would be an understatement! We learned so much and made so many amazing friends – could not have been better!
Between the seminars, campfires, the catered dinners, pot luck dinner, game nights, Derby Party (we hadn’t been to a Derby Party since we left KY in 2002), etc. we were exhausted every night!
It is a rare thing to have no disappointments at all! I am also a firm believer in what you get out of something you do is mostly equal to the effort you put into it, so maybe that was my reward b/c I spent so much time preparing, how could it have gone wrong? I took the time to introduce myself and Bill (via PM on the forum) to people so we already had a group of us who “knew” each other. That made it so much easier, it was just a matter of matching faces with “handles” from the forum, and in some cases introducing our spouses. Bottom line – WE HAD AN AWESOME TIME!
A lot of my new friends already blog, so I will be listing their blogs when I figure out how to do that. I am a complete and total newbie and I am almost embarrassed on how little I know about this and how long it is taking me to figure out things!
So, til tomorrow…
Great start Kelly! We had such a great time at the rally too. Loved meeting you and everyone else!
Great job…now, if I can just find the time to get ours started 🙂
I think it’s supposed to rain tomorrow.
Thanks!
