The rally offically ended Sunday morning after breakfast. Lots of the attendees were leaving, heading for their next stop. After some debate, Bill & I decided to stay one more night and take advantage of the amenities at Nevada Treasure. Bill had been working all week, installing solar on one of the rigs attending. Christine, Angie and Cody are now all set-up for boondocking – and they couldn’t be happier! We decided a day doing nothing was in order!
Howard & Linda had mentioned they were considering just hanging at the pool for the afternoon, so Bill & I decided to join them. Guess I was taking too long, as I received a text from Linda “I have a pina colada here with your name on it!” Alrighty then! I was ready to go, so I told Bill he could meet us there – and I was poolside in less than 5!
It was a wonderful afternoon enjoying the gorgeous pool! We had drinks, snacks and just relaxed. It was a well earned time of doing nothing at all!
The following morning, Bill & I headed out. While Nevada Treasure was a gorgeous place, their nightly rate was a bit too rich for us! We were off to the local Escapees Co-op Park, Pair-A-Dice. Ha! Get it – we are in Nevada – gambling – dice? I know – hokey – but fun!
We arrived after our 14 mile drive in the early afternoon. After paying our $50 for the week (a special rate available to first time visitors), we were led to our site and got set-up quickly in our pull-thru site. We were directly across the street from the community center, where they have lots of activities going on.
Tuesday, Howard & Linda decided to join us and got parked in their new RV, a Winnebago Aspect. They brought their for sale Jeep, as well as their “new to them” Jeep. Their sold 5th Wheel and truck were in storage at Nevada Treasure. Bill had started their solar install at Nevada Treasure, and was willing to make the drive back and forth each day, but it was nice they came and parked so close to us. They were also able to take advantage of the $50 for the week special also, saving quite a bit over Nevada Treasure rates.
It was a mostly quiet week. We visited Happy Hour in the community center one afternoon, and got to meet some of the residents. Everyone was so welcoming, and we felt right at home.
Bill worked on their install, progress was sometimes slow, due to the small spaces he needed to work in. There was also a snag to two that needed to be figured out, but Bill is persistent and got it all worked out.
Something I wanted to mention was we had rain! I remember complaining about how damp, rainy and just yucky the weather was in TX, and since then we haven’t had much at all, a few sprinkles here and there. In fact, my skin is like a lizard it’s so dry here, like less than 10% humidity. (Bill says I should invest in lotion) There was a whole evening and night that it rained! Thankfully it didn’t interfere with the install, except Bill cleaned up a little early. I put the cover back on the bikes, as we hadn’t put them on in awhile.
Linda and I had Ladies Day Out in Vegas one day. Linda was wanting to get her nails done, and I decided I was over-due for a pedicure. We also hit up Best Buy, picking up a hard drive for the Payne’s. Our next stop was a Ford dealer, where I got anti-freeze for the truck.
The last stop was for a delicious lunch at a place Linda had been to before called Island Flavor. I can now understand completely why she wanted to visit again! YUMMY! Linda ordered a teriyaki chicken salad and I had the Shoyu Chicken. We split a HUGE piece of ice cream cake for dessert! Thanks again Linda for driving, for lunch, and for an awesome day!
We were excited to have a few visitors here in Pahrump! Karen & Al were passing through and had dinner with us a couple of times. Their first night in town, we decided to try Romero’s, a Mexican place in town. Romero’s actually did the catering for the first night of the Reunion Rally, so between that good experience and also a recommendation from Russ & Terri (who spend 6 months a year in Mexico), it seemed like a safe bet. The food was good, and large portions! Good choice!
The following evening, we had a small pot luck of sorts, each of us contributing part of the meal. Bill & I made chicken wings, half with our usual buffalo sauce, and the other half with Jamaican Jerk. YUMMY!
Karen & Al brought butternut squash soup; Linda brought scalloped potatoes and a home made Instant Pot cheesecake!
It was a great meal and the company was the BEST! We told stories well into the evening, with lots of laughing! Thanks Karen & Al for stopping in Pahrump to see us!
Our other visitors, Gene & Eileen, are staying in Las Vegas and drove in for the day. Gene was nice enough to stop at the Honda dealer for some transmission fluid for my CR/V. Bill mistakenly thought he had 4 quarts, but he only had 2, so Gene to the rescue, since there aren’t any Honda dealers here in Pahrump! Linda suggested Mountain Falls Grill Room for lunch. She and Howard had eaten there and said it was really good. Not only was the food good, but the surroundings and view were also top-notch. The restaurant is part of a country club and golf course, so there was beautiful green grass and flowers to gaze at while we ate. As quickly as they arrived, Gene & Eileen were on their way back to Las Vegas. It was so wonderful to see you guys! Thanks again for stopping at the Honda dealer and also for driving out to see us!
Cinco de Mayo was celebrated. Past celebrations of this holiday have gotten, shall we say, out of control, but this year we kept the wheels on. Howard & Linda treated us to taco’s, margaritas and bowling at the Parhump Nugget. What a fun evening! Howard won each of the 3 games, with Linda coming in second. Bill was a close third and I was the distant 4th. Oh well! Someone has to come in last! I had warned them I really suck at bowling, but it was great fun and who cares about the score? Well, I guess some do, but not me!
Another evening, Linda made us a delicious dinner of baby back ribs, mac & cheese and chocolate cake for dessert. I contributed a salad and we had one last quiet evening of food, friendship and watching Office Space. During one of our numerous conversations, Bill discovered Howard was also an Office Space fan, so since we have it on DVD and have it with us, he put in on for us to watch. Doesn’t seem to matter how many times you watch it – it still makes everyone laugh!
Linda & Howard were anxious to get out and try their new solar and just get a break from people. I can totally understand, as they have been non-stop for quite a while. They pulled out of Pair-A-Dice as soon as their week was up – heading for Valley of Fire! It was so nice spending one-on-one time with them, getting to know them better, as all our previous times together have been part of a rally. Well, we had dinner once way back when in Indiana. Thanks guys for all you do for the RVing community – we have loved every minute of the, now 6, rallies we have attended!

Bill had job he did after finishing up with Howard & Linda. It was a small job that only took a day and a half. When he that job was complete, and since this park has a really nice lube pit, he decided to take advantage of that and change the oil and transmission fluid in my car and also the coolant in the truck. I felt bad for him, as it was really HOT, but the convenience would have been hard to beat.
Bill also added to the floor repair he had done last summer in NJ. He plans to add a detailed “addendum” to that post. I’ll post a link when it’s completed.
We lifted our jacks with St George, UT Elks Lodge in the GPS. You’ll have to tune in next time to hear all about it!

Fun post, Kelly! What do you mean you suck at bowling? You got a strike! :). That is an awesome lube pit. The co-op should put a cover over it to make it even better!
Thanks Jim! I got one strike in 3 games, only – I think – 2 pick-ups. Didn’t break 100 – so yea – trust me on this! Ha! A cover over the lube pit would make it perfect!
Looks like the good times are continuing, nice that you were able to take some time to get out with Howard and Linda as well as the Newhalls!
We always enjoy time with fellow RV-Dreamers! Hope our paths cross with you guys again!
