Great-Grandparents Visit

It was an easy drive day heading back to south western PA after a wonderful visit with our son. Leaving is usually difficult but we knew we would be seeing him again in only a few days. My parents would be arriving from Florida and he would be coming out by train.

After some debate, Bill finally had us parked in our seasonal site. It’s always a conversation, “Where EXACTLY” do you want the RV?” Generally, we like to stay over to the driver side as much as possible to allow for the largest amount of “yard,” and this time was no exception. We also like to park pretty far back on sites, so we have a large parking area out front. This time we did have to be mindful of the shed, which is directly behind the RV. All things considered, we were still parked and ready to head to Michelle’s by mid-afternoon. I needed some baby snuggles!

The following day, Bill and I headed to Latrobe to pick up my parents. It was unusual, as my Mom never flies, but this trip she decided to try it. Thankfully their flight was uneventful and on-time. We gathered their luggage and were on our way back quickly.

As expected, there were some strong emotions when we arrived and they saw Freya for the first time. Their first great-grandchild! That’s pretty special and rare these days!

Billy arrived on Thursday, via Amtrak. My parents were very happy to see him, as it had been over a year!

I was so happy to have so many of my loved ones in one place!

Our family friend, Linda, came on Friday, also meeting Freya for the first time.

Saturday, we had a gathering at Michelle & Derek’s for people to come and meet Freya. A lot of Derek’s family came, while my family headed out. I didn’t get pics on my phone that day, as I was taking them with Michelle’s camera.

Bill had an install this week also – finally the weather warmed up a bit. We were hoping it would last, but not really, it was just a teaser!

The week flew by! Why are visits always like that?

The following week, Michelle and I went to Pittsburgh for the day. We had lunch at Michelle’s favorite place, Square Cafe, where we both enjoyed their yummy Lemon Berry Ricotta Pancakes. It was a gorgeous day, so we decided to walk around Frick Park. Freya was very content in her pack.

Happy baby on the trail.

We also did a bit of shopping.

Sadly, I’m finding it difficult to find interesting things to write about. I’m hoping I’m not boring you to death! To be clear – I’m not bored – just saying that when I reread what I’ve written, I can understand how it wouldn’t be of too much interest to others. I am loving my time being Nani and helping Michelle with Freya, watching her grow.

Sometimes life is just life, even when you are full-time RVer. It’s a life I wouldn’t miss for anything!

  1. Been there with the blogging. It is not always easy to come up with something interesting to blog about when you are in one place for an extended period. Sometimes inspiration comes to me on a topic that has nothing to do with what we are actually doing. Other times we have to force ourselves to get out on an adventure or two to break up the daily routine.

    1. I think I like the idea to plan a day trip to break up the daily routine! Stealing! I do have a few “non-daily life” posts stirring around, but haven’t finished them yet! Maybe I need to get on it!

  2. Love seeing you settle into Grandma mode…and I hope I am not too far behind! Enjoy every single minute.

    1. I am enjoying every moment Ellen! You will love it when it’s your turn!

  3. “Just life” is such a blessing to share with family, especially those brand new members. Freya is precious, and how special for the greats to get a visit. Hope the humidity holds off for a while!

    1. Thanks Jodee! You are so right! We are also hoping humidity stays away for as long as possible!

  4. It’s not boring at all! I love knowing what you are up to. It’s also nice to read about your family stuff since Brian and I don’t have much of one.

  5. Oh I sure know about blogging. Last post was April 4th! We are doing a few things, but mostly life in general. We will have some exciting news soon, but can’t post anything quite yet 🙂

  6. Hey Kelly. Your post are never boring. I love reading about what you are up to. I know you are embracing being s grandmother. It is the best. They grow up so quick. I love the snuggles. Have a great week. I hope you are getting warm weather. It is 92 today here. But no complaints. Better than the cold. 😄

    1. Thanks Chris! Being a grandmother is awesome! Especially the snuggles! And yes – loving that it’s warming up FINALLY!

  7. Many of us have been there, and what grandma doesn’t want to share the excitement of a new grandbaby, and the family’s love for a new member. It’s part of the wonderful life we lead – no matter where we live – where we travel, and even if we don’t. Thanks so much for sharing not just the travels, but the day to day of your lives too.
