When we arrived at Cori & Greg’s place – aka The Center for Mental Wellness – there were lots of things happening. The first thing we noticed was Greg had done a lot of improvements to the driveway and parking area, having added white stone so rain would no longer cause a squishy muddy mess. There were also two large cement slabs, one for their barndominium and the other for their garage. Their Country Coach motorhome was waiting for its new owners to come to pick it up; their Chinook, their full-time home, for now, was also on-site. It was so good to see these two – and Hobie! – as it had been a long time since we’d seen them last.
Bill got our rig parked and we were settled in short order. It felt good to know we didn’t need to go anywhere for a while. Trace & Lee were going to be arriving soon, also for a long stay. We were excited – there would be plenty of time for catching up, work and play!
I spent about two full days cleaning the accumulated road grime. I had done a quick clean-up upon arrival at Live Oak Ranch, but our home was overdue for a deep clean. It felt good to sit back and enjoy the freshness when I was done. I also did a small bit of purging, bringing three bags of miscellaneous stuff to a local thrift store.
Bill spent time with Greg sorting solar supplies, making sure all was ready for the first few installs. There were six installs scheduled for our time in TX. I was going to be helping on the first day with panel assembly and some wire pulling if needed.
Tracy & Lee arrived and it was so great to see them! And Jack of course! Our quick, one night stop-over in Charleston (back in early November) had been just a tease.
Cori, Tracy and I started going to Zumba classes offered at their local community center. It felt good to do something for myself, especially accompanied by my friends, as we held each other accountable. It was fairly inexpensive at $5 per class. The leader, Monique, was good – her choreography wasn’t too hard to follow and she kept us moving.
I had to make an unexpected trip to PA to visit our daughter. I hadn’t shared yet about her pregnancy, but sadly, she suffered a miscarriage. We were so shocked and saddened by this news. I spent a week with her and Freya, and while it was wonderful spending time with them (and Billy, who hopped on a train for a quick visit) the reason was hard to process. Bill was right in the middle of an install and couldn’t breakaway. I sure appreciated everyone in TX being there for Bill while I was away. I talk more about that in a separate post.
Jo & Ben, with Peyton and Sammy, and my friend Linda came to visit. It was great seeing them, especially introducing Linda to Greg & Cori, Lee & Tracy and Jo (she had met Ben when we delivered her “new to her” home to NJ back in January.)
Jo & Ben were showing off their new 5th Wheel , a 2020 Grand Design. It still had the new RV smell to it! They were adding a solar system to their new part-time home.
Linda stayed at the nearby Potter Creek Park, a COE Campground with beautiful views of Canyon Lake. She hosted her first dinner party when she invited the tribe over one evening.
We headed to the San Antonio RiverWalk one evening, for dinner and to watch a Chinese Lantern boat parade. We enjoyed the cool evening air as we stuffed ourselves with delicious Mexican entrees and beverages.
Finding seating for all of us was not easy when we went to see a local band at Gruene Hall. The band (wish I could remember the name) was very good, and there were lots of people dancing. Some of the dancers were professional and it showed. They were so fun to watch!
Bridget & Pat arrived a couple of weeks after the first wave of visitors had moved on. We hadn’t seen them in over a year. We caught up on all their news, complete with pics of their new granddaughter as well as their daughter’s wedding.
Bridget & Pat continued on their journey westward, and we were back down to the six of us. Bill continued to work on installs (I do help to the extent I can) and I started a couch blanket for Cori & Greg, my way of saying thanks for their hospitality.
Dinner, at the Fork and Spoon in New Braunfels, was a delicious and perfect start to a fun evening. Cori arranged for us to break out of the Magic Room at Escape Haus. It took the six of us working together to break all the codes, match up all the keys/locks, etc to get us out, with literally 19 seconds to spare!

How fun to see some others! Are Ben and Jo back on the road? The fresh gravel looks nice. Sad to hear of the miscarriage.
It was great seeing everyone. Jo & Ben are wanting to look for a new home base and part-time full-time. This whole virus might put a pause on it though.
What a wonderful recap of a spectacular recharge precious time with friends!
Thanks Ellen!
A great gathering of friends, back when such gatherings were common.
Stay Safe!
Right? It seems so foreign now doesn’t it?
So great that you were able to see so many of your friends! Looks like everyone had a great time.
We really did have an awesome time.

Fun times for sure! Now there’s this virus – UGH. You stay safe and healthy too!

We have a lot of fun for sure! You guys stay safe also!
What a grand time with great friends!! I love that area, San Antonio being my favorite Texas city. The driveway looks great – they’ve sure got a wonderful spot in the trees there. So sorry to read of your loss 🙁 It’s been many years since I’ve seen a lantern parade, it looks so lovely on the water. I think we ate at that Mexican restaurant on the river. Boy do I miss going out for Mexican food :-))))
We love San Antonio and the whole area! If there was an ocean nearby we might consider that area as a base, but we are East Coasters for sure! We miss going out for any type food! We may consider a take out pizza later this week.
