As always, it was bittersweet leaving Cori and Greg (and Tripp!) but it was time to start our trek northward. Unlike when we arrived nearly 3 months ago, there were lots of hugs before we lifted our jacks and headed out.
Our first stop was supposed to be a client’s home in NC, (more on that in another post) but when we learned that our friends Jo and Ben were only a short detour out of the way, we decided to take advantage of the opportunity to see them. Of course, we did have two overnights on our way there, the first one was at an Elks Lodge in Beaumont TX and the second one was an Elks Lodge in Pascagoula MS; both were new to us. Interestingly, both were very close to train tracks.
After two long drive days, we caught up with Jo and Ben in Port St Joe FL, where they were spending a few days while on vacation. We were lucky to snag a site at the campground they were staying at, which was due to a cancelation. They had a really nice spot backed up to the water; our site was right on the road, but it was at a dead end, so not too many cars.
We arrived to Jo and Ben standing out in the street waiting for us, directing us to our site. While that may seem weird, it was kind of a good thing they did, or we may have driven right by it and turning around would have been difficult.
The highlight of our visit was dinner at the Shipwreck Raw Bar. We felt comfortable eating there since we were all fully vaccinated and they were only operating at 50% capacity.
The following morning we said our “see you laters!” even though, sadly, we had no idea when that may be.

Yay, friend time! We’ve just missed a few of you by a few days! Next time!
Definitely! Let us know if you are coming near PA!
Just noticed you have a slide topper above your second awning over dinette slide. I’ve been thinking again about adding slide toppers to reduce move day needs (sweeping top of slides).. Wondered how it was possible to get a topper above our second awning.
Our second awning is attached to the slide so the awning and slide topper don’t touch. I’m not sure if your set-up and if what you want to do would work. Is your second awning attached to the slide or roof of the RV?
Being vaccinated is such a relief!!! Looks like you had a fun visit 🙂
It’s a HUGE relief! We are still masking up when we feel it’s needed but it’s nice to see things returning to the new normal.
A nice campsite on the beach with friends, doesn’t get much better than that.
You are so right!
So glad you got to catch up with them…and grateful you suggested we connect! Have a great summer with the grandbabies!
Was a great visit! Happy you got to see them too!
