I’ve mentioned in previous posts that we’ve gone on a Fantasy RV Tour. We went in September 2024. It was an entirely new way of traveling for us. A quicker pace (except when we “reposition”), more expensive RV parks/campgrounds, stuff like that. Knowing this, it would be natural to ask “Why?” We took the tour because we were considering joining Fantasy RV Tours as Ambassadors.
The tour we took was called Music, Bourbon, and Moonshine. It was 21 days long, starting in Paducah, KY and ended in Pigeon Forge, TN. We had actually been to some of the places included in the tour, but it was available and not too far away for us to travel to from our summer home.

Fantasy RV Tours does all the legwork for their guests, from reserving all campsites, arranging bus tours, to step-by-step written directions – a full soup-to-nuts experience. Guests simply show up and follow along. Makes things very simple for guests and ensures they see and do all the best highlights in an area.

Our usual style of travel is quite different from that, especially considering we are full-time RVers. It would be impossible for us to stay in the “best” campgrounds all the time; we generally like to stay somewhere longer than the couple/few days Fantasy stays in one place; we generally prefer to see an area at our own pace and not use organized tours.

Fantasy RV Tours requires each Ambassador couple to have gone on a tour before they will train them to join their ranks. They do this because a lot of people don’t like the way they travel. To be honest, as I’ve already stated, it isn’t our usual way, but we also didn’t dislike it. We liked the break from route planning, reading campground reviews, checking for what there is to do in an area. Also of note: we did enjoy driving together, it made travel days easier. Interestingly, we saw and did things we hadn’t before, in spite of having been to some of the places on our own.

As examples, we went to the National Quilt Museum in Paducah, a tour and lunch at Chaney’s Diary Barn in Bowling Green, KY area, My Old Kentucky Dinner Train (probably the best meal of the tour) near Bardstown, KY, and staying at Margaritaville RV Resort in Pigeon Forge, TN. Sadly, we missed a couple of days of touring around due to being sick, but it was nice to pick up where we left off when we were feeling better. Even better was our Wagon Masters and Tail Gunners checked in on us, making sure we were ok and brought us our meals from one of the outings we missed!

Before I get asked – the Wagon Masters are the ones to lead the tour – literally leaving each stop first, they have all the reservations information, they decide on the campground meals we will make/serve, they are basically in charge. The Tail Gunners are their assistants and leave each location last, watching for any potential broken down guests along the route to the next stop. We help with all the things at all times.

Once our tour was complete and we made our way back to PA, we decided we definitely wanted to train to be Ambassadors. We were contacted by Kara and she signed us up!
We arrived for training in Savannah, GA, after New Bern, NC and before our expected arrival in FL. We spent 4 days/nights learning all about how to be the best tail gunners ever! (that’s one of their coined phrases)

About a week following our training, Kara emailed us to offer us our first assignment and after some discussion we accepted! We will be heading to the Canadian Maritimes on Fantasy’s 34 Day Atlantic Provinces Select Tour! We are so excited – the Maritimes has been on our bucket list from the beginning!

So you will have to wait to see how our first tour as Tail Gunners goes, but now you know to be on the lookout for it later this summer!

Our guest tour complete, we were added to the Fantasy Ambassador Training schedule for November in Savannah GA. We arrived on Day 1 and got settled quickly. That first night there was a welcome dinner for all us newbies. The next few days were spent in seminars, learning all about how Fantasy RV Tours stays the #1 RV tour company in the world. We also enjoyed delicious meals, entertainment, and game nights. I think it’s safe to say we are going to like this!

Some of you may be wondering, what about solar? We plan to keep solar alive and well. We should know our Fantasy schedule for 2026 by early September (we’ve already sent in our “wish list”) and we can mark our calendar accordingly. We are hoping this opportunity will allow us to find a better travel/keep up financially balanced.

You guys will be amazing!! Enjoy the ride and adventure. I’d love to follow along~
Thanks Ellen!
very interesting, as RV travel is getting to the point where reservations are often required. And planning alone is getting more difficult. I’m certainly going to follow along for ideas.
I have to admit that we are travelers not really RVers looking for tours. But always interest in reasons to stop!
I agree, planning is not as easy anymore. Most of the time you can’t just show up, except maybe to Walmart. Thanks Jeff – for always following along!
Congratulations on your next adventure. As full timers ourselves, planning our travel and siteseeing does get tedious sometimes. Might be a nice break to take a tour. We’ll be following along and who knows maybe we’ll be on one of your tours!
Thanks! It would be great to see you guys, on a tour or otherwise!
We explored the Maritimes a few years ago. I think you guys will really enjoy the tour. Safe travels!
It’s been on our bucket list forever, we are really looking forward to it!
