Boulder CO

I gotta tell ya, I’ve really been liking these short drive days! It only took us about an hour to get to our next stop, the Elks Lodge in Boulder. We met the host and got parked quickly. It is a nice enough Elks Lodge; HUGE facilities including a hall (that can be divided in half), 2 separate bar areas and a pool.  They charge $6 per day for members and $7 per day for non-members. They also offer seasonal passes. We wanted to be in Boulder mostly to visit our Goddaughter, Quynn. She lives nearby in Louisville.

Quynn came over the following day to see us! I was so excited! I miss family so much and seeing her made my heart smile! Sadly, her fiance, Megan, couldn’t join us, but we would see her the following day.

We met the girls on Pearl Street the following evening, and walked around watching the street performers. They treated us to some yummy ice cream, which was really nice.

While together, we talked about plans for later in the week, a picnic and fireworks for 4th of July. Sadly, those plans didn’t pan out as Megan’s Aunt had a major heart attack, so they needed to be with her family. Thankfully, her Aunt is doing ok.

We ventured out on our bikes again, testing our directional skills on the numerous Boulder bike paths. Bill had picked up a map specifically for bikes at a bike shop up the street; there are nearly as many bike paths as there are vehicle roads!

Beautiful sunny day!
We’ve never seen bike only signals before

David & Sharon came and joined us on a tour of Celestial Seasonings Tea factory and also a bike ride in Boulder one day. Bill & I had taken the tour with Quynn & Megan when we were in town in October 2016, but we liked enough to do it again. Plus their selection of teas is amazing and we always like to pick up a little something for the kids. The tour itself is free, but they have a cafe and huge gift shop.  Afterwards, we found our way (after some initial confusion), to Pearl Street. We had an excellent Chinese food lunch at Zoe Ma Ma, a very small place on a side street, right off Pearl. It was rated #1 for Asian food, and we discovered why! Best part was we were out the door for under $30 with leftovers!

These made me think of our kitty, Raskal

We wandered back to our place and sadly, it was time for Sharon & David to head back to Boyd Lake. No worries though, we would see them again soon!

Bill and I got some projects done during the week. One thing he’s been wanting to get done is a new spreadsheet for the business. He actually has the spreadsheet done, but items needed to be entered – box checked!

We met and spent some time with Mike & Donna, who are the managers of the Elks Lodge RV Members RVillage page. They are largely responsible for the success of that page.

Gene & Eileen invited us to join everyone for dinner and concert in Ft. Collins one evening. Bill wasn’t feeling up to it, but he encouraged me to go on my own, so I did. I met Gene & Eileen, Mark (Eileen’s son), David & Sharon, and Jo (Ben was working) at Blue Agave Grill. We were just in time for Happy Hour and took advantage of the lower margarita and appetizer prices. Most of us got some version of a margarita and their special tacos – all was very good!

Afterwards, we walked a few blocks to the square to watch the free live music. The band was very good, with an eclectic playlist, my favorite was “With or Without You” by U2. The crowd dispersed at 9pm after the encore. What a wonderful evening with wonderful friends, although it was odd being on my own without hubby.

When I arrived back home, Bill was relaxing in his comfy recliner, watching some TV. He sometimes prefers a quiet evening at home, while I am always up for hanging out, especially if it involves a friends and a free concert!

    1. Delish food and drink at Blue Agave! Love all the options for entertainment in this area!

  2. Hey Kelly, looks like a great time with family, friends, good food and drinks. That Elks Lodge sounds great. Nice pool. I would love to do that tour as I do love tea. Have a great weekend. Can’t wait to see more of the area.

    1. Hey Chris! This Elks was nice enough, although the parking was just a lot. However, when you can pay $18 for a spot verses $35 or more, it’s a compromise I’m willing to make, at least some of the time!

  3. We have been back to the Blue Agave a couple times. Their margaritas are SO good! We always spend way too much money there but love it!

  4. I love watching these pictures of you guys and our friends. It’s so great that you are all spending this time together!
