FL 2019 Highlights

First, let me acknowledge that it’s been 13 weeks since I last shared a post! Initially, I had no more of a reason than I just wasn’t feeling it. I really enjoyed my time in FL, visiting with my family, and I selfishly just didn’t want to sit and take the time to write. Afterward, when I finally sat to type and update you all on what was going on, I had massive issues uploading pictures. The post you are about to read was actually supposed to be 2 or 3 posts, but I condensed and combined them, feeling the need to catch-up more quickly.

Now I’m back! I have found a workaround for my uploading issues. We are now in Spring Branch, TX and there’s a lot to tell you about. Let’s get started!

One of the best things about being in Clearwater for November and December was the weather, which was warm and sunny during the day, and cool and comfortable at night. Most of the time I wore capris with a t-shirt, and maybe a light jacket just in the evenings.

Another wonderful thing that time of year was all the holiday happenings to take part in. Holiday markets filled with locally made items for sale, Holiday light displays to drive or walk through, or my favorite – Boat Parades!

One of the many unusually decorated Christmas trees

Our annual trip to FL wouldn’t be complete without seeing my sister Shannon and her boyfriend Rodney. Once again, they generously let us tag along to Disney. Our visits included one day seeing the holiday displays and especially the Gingerbread Houses, at a few of the hotels. Using their transportation system was easy and FREE!

We were thrilled to be invited to join in on Shannon’s work (Disney’s Transportation System) holiday party, which took place on one of the ferries. Beverages, snacks, and door prizes were supplied, but the best was the unobstructed view of the Magic Kingdom fireworks surrounding Cinderella’s Castle!

Our biggest day in Disney was the one we set our alarms to wake us before dawn, and we arrived at Hollywood Studios by 6:45 am. By doing so, Shannon was able to snag a boarding pass for the newest ride – Rise of the Resistance! Wow! What an experience! While waiting for our time slot, we got on Smugglers Run; Shannon and Rodney were our pilots, while Bill and I acted as gunners. Shannon had gotten us FastPasses for Rockin’ Rollercoaster, which I wished I had skipped. I came off feeling nauseous, which thankfully passed quickly.

Shannon and I cooked up a delish Thanksgiving dinner together, after a too many years hiatus. Even after the six of us ate way too much, there was still plenty of leftovers to enjoy! Bill participated in the preparations also by baking my favorite cake in the whole world – Grandma Murray’s Carrot Cake! I was happy to spend Thanksgiving and celebrate my birthday with my parents and sister!

We enjoyed afternoon visits with Bill’s cousins, Jerry & Pat, and Gigi.

I had hoped to see Shannon and Rodney again for Christmas, but they both worked the night before and we lifted our jacks to head westward the day after. My parents’ friends, Cyndi and Dave, invited us to dinner at their house, and we happily accepted. We enjoyed a quiet day, filled with yummy foods and awesome company! Thanks again, Cyndi and Dave!

In between all the fun – we managed to get to all our doctor and dentist visits. Other than Bill getting something to lower his blood pressure and me needing to get a pre-cancer spot removed, all is well on the medical front. I have 4 months to drop my cholesterol levels or doc is threatening a statin, we shall see how that goes. In the first attempt to work toward that goal, I started going back to Zumba, which I LOVE! I also made time to donate a pint of my coveted Oneg blood.

Ellen came by for dinner one night!

For the past couple of years, we had a picnic with our RV-Dreams family. It has generally been in January or February, but since our travels would be taking us to TX right after Christmas, I decided to move it up to December. What a great turn-out we had! Thanks to those who shared their pictures with me, as I didn’t get too many.

Bill completed four installs during our time in FL. I helped with panel prep, as I always try to do, and also helped pull some wire. It was awesome meeting Mike & Mimi, Bill, Kunio & Michele, and Steve & Monica! Special thanks to Bill for a wonderful dinner at Whiskey Joes! We love our clients!

I guess that’s a wrap! Busy times indeed, as it always is in FL. Sorry for the long break, but I’m back and one of my New Years Resolutions is to keep up better with the blog! Now that I have the whole how to get pictures uploaded issue handled, it will make it easier!

It’s nice to take a break from writing when life is busy and fun. But good to hear from you. I pull up the map on RVillage every now and then to see where friends are and saw that you were in Texas as are we. Not close however.

    1. I had seen you guys were in TX, but not close – because – TX! Wish you guys were going to the RV-Dreams Rally – would be awesome to see you! (It’s at the end of April in TN!)

  7. There you are!! Looks like a fantastic time with your Florida friends and family. So jealous you got to do the Star Wars adventure 🙂 Time has really flown since Christmas and I totally get how challenging it can be to keep up on the blog!!

    1. The Star Wars area was fantastic! Completely immersive! Time has flown – I leave Wednesday, flying to PA (Bill joins me the following week) for Freya’s first birthday!
