PA – Wrapping Up 2020

Its hard to believe our time in PA has ended, and it’s actually been several weeks ago now (yes – I’m behind on posting.) Well, our time “living” there anyway, as we will be flying back to greet our newest family member when she arrives at the end of November.

Family time, friend visits and solar dominated our days, with a major upgrade thrown in. (more on that here)

When we returned from NJ, the goslings that were so small weren’t so small anymore

Our first friend visit, once we returned from our NJ trip, was Jo & Ben, along with their pups, Peyton and Sammy. They were in PA to visit Ben’s parents, who live in the eastern part of the state, and we were conveniently located for a visit on their way back to CO, where they currently reside.

A visit to Ohiopyle was a highlight of their visit, as its a great place to enjoy the outdoors. The weather only partially cooperated, but we made the best of it.

Cori & Greg, along with their newest furry family member, Tripp, stopped by for a quick visit on their way to see Greg’s family. It was awesome to meet Tripp, who is still very young and made Freya giggle and laugh with puppy kisses!

Tracy & Lee and Jack came by also and we enjoyed several days of outdoors and visiting with them.

We also trekked to see friends Deb & Tim of They were staying at Mountain Top Campground, about an hour and a half away. We stopped on our way at Camping World for a few items and to check out their chair options. We weren’t impressed, so didn’t get any. Tim & Deb cooked a yummy dinner and we sat outside and enjoyed the beautiful evening.

Another day, Bill and I, along with our son Billy, got to have a picnic lunch with BFF Linda and her new beau, our RV Dreamer family member, Rick! It was the first time seeing them since they’ve officially become an “item.” They are so happy together – Bill & I are thrilled!

Social distancing has not always been easy to maintain, but we did our best. It’s really hard when we are used to hugging and cooking together and sharing meals, regardless of the weather. So much more planning needs to go into these visits and while it is a nuisance, it is worth it in the end to see everyone.

Out for a bike ride in Rockwood on the Great Allegheny Passage, a Rails-to-Trails path that goes from Pittsburgh to Cumberland, MD. Someday its supposed to go all the way to Baltimore

Billy came out a few more times, helping Bill and just spending time with us. He did take the train for one visit, which initially made me very nervous, but after reviewing Amtrak’s policies and getting him an N95 mask, I felt better about it. When he got home, he told me the train had hardly anyone on it and everyone stayed away from one another.

Painting baby Arwen’s room

To say Freya has grown a lot since our arrival back in April would be an understatement. She is a joy to be around! We couldn’t be more excited about Arwen Eve’s impending arrival at the end of November. My daughter is doing well, just quickly approaching the point of being “done” with being pregnant, as most third trimester Momma’s are, especially those with a toddler to look after and care for.

Freya loves petting Callie and thankfully Callie is pretty tolerant of it
Freya loves the swings!

Autumn was definitely in the air before our departure, signaling it was time to start our journey south. Saying “so long for now” is always hard, tears flow readily. The hardest part, which will change in time, is that Freya doesn’t understand yet. One day she just finds out she has to visit with Nani & Pop on FaceTime instead of in person. I know one day we will be able to leave her a calendar, marked with our return date, but that is probably a couple of years away.

  1. Always great hearing from you guys (especially when it isn’t to respond to my questions for Bill!)! Safe travels and if you find yourselves on the east side of Florida, look us up!

    1. Hello! It’s always good to hear from our clients! Bill is currently in Clearwater but I am in PA waiting for baby Arwen to be born! Our time in FL this year is very limited, so hopefully we can catch up another time? I’ll look forward to it!

    1. It’s safe to say that Bill LOVES the new brakes! I think he knew it before we had driven out of the campground.

  2. Hi Bill & Kelly, Jim n Toni here. The virus screwed up our volunteer planning, but that enabled us to spend the summer with our sons family, where we have a pad with hookups, and lots of trees in upstate NY . It’s been a great visit. We’re headed to Tennessee, soon for the winter, then we have a gig in Montana for next summer. That should be fun. We were headed to Chiefland Fl. , but the opportunity in Tennessee came up, and we took it. I’m a little concerned about the weather in January and February, but it’s still gonna be warmer than upstate NY. (21deg. This morning) .
I’d love to meet up with you guys somewhere, sometime. We enjoy your posts. God bless you and keep you safe.
P.S. I so miss hugging , I hope this virus goes away soon.

    1. Hi Jim & Toni!
Thanks so much for reading and reaching out! I’m sure TN will be a better place to winter than NY! We’d love to meet up – if you follow us on Facebook and/or Instagram you’ll always know where we are in real time! Until we meet in person (and a COVID vaccine is readily available) I’m sending virtual hugs!

  3. You were busy! Happy for your friends! Love Freyas blonde hair! Looking forward to seeing new baby pics!

  4. Thanks again for all your love and support and friendship over the past few years. And most of all thanks 😊 for introducing me to Milady Linda. Love you guys and hope you have a glorious Holiday season this year, Rick

    1. You are very welcome – so happy you and Linda are happy! Happy Holidays to you and yours.

  5. How delightful to see so many friends and family. Freya is getting so big, and she’s just darling. I didn’t realize that Rick’s Linda was your BFF!! We met Rick a couple years ago in Oregon and it’s great to see them so happy 🙂
So fun you’re getting a new November grand baby too! Happy Thanksgiving to you and Bill.

    1. Happy Thanksgiving to you and Bill! I had been talking to Rick and Linda about each other for like a year before they were officially introduced by me! We are excitedly awaiting Arwen’s birth – any day now! Hugs!
