Back in Somerset PA and Side Trip to FL

Bill and I were both very excited to arrive to our summer home at Hickory Hollow Campground. It was mid-May, about 2 months since we last had Freya and Arwen hugs. When we walked into their house, we were greeted with the girls running to us with open arms and squealing voices “Nana!” “Pop!” My heart was full! They both loved their Mexican dresses and their name prints we brought them.

Hickory Hollow installed a new playground over the winter. The girls were so excited to play on it!

A couple weeks after our arrival, I decided I wanted to go visit with my parents. There was a few reasons for this. First, my Dad hadn’t been feeling well and I wanted to put my eyes on him. Second, they had just moved and I was unable to update my driver license online. I figured either Bill or I should have the correct address on our license so we can change all our banking, etc to the new address. Third, because of the move I wanted to help them get settled. Michelle decided she wanted to take the girls to visit. My parents had room for me, but especially considering all the boxes that needed to be unpacked, Michelle reserved a very close-by AirB&B. My parents were thrilled to see all of us!

My last night in town, my parents treated me to dinner!

One day while I was in FL, Bill took a day trip up to Erie, PA, which is about a 3 hour drive to the north.

We’ve been to Ohiopyle State Park many times, but on our most recent trip, we choose a new trail and it lead us to Cucumber Falls.

Callie had been to the vet back in January in TX and had gotten a clean bill of health, but she started pawing at her mouth like it was bothering her in some way. I gave it time in case it was just an irritation that would heal on its own but after a week or so I decided to bring her to to see the vet Michelle has used. Dr. Penny suspected she may have had excessive tarter and suggested getting her teeth cleaned. This was a first, but if she was in pain or even if it was just annoying her, we decided to get it done. We brought her in the morning of the surgery (its considered surgery since they are asleep during the procedure) and was told we would get a call later. Finally, around 3:30pm, they called to say she tolerated it well and would be ready for pick-up a little bit later.

She was still a bit wobbly when we arrived to get her, but she was happy to see us. She slept most of the night and next day before her appetite kicked in. The first few days, it seemed she was all better, but then while we were in NJ, she started pawing at her mouth again. It doesn’t seem as often so far, but I am continuing to monitor her.

Bill tackled a project we’ve been talking about for quite a while. I’ll let the pics show you.

AFTER!

I completed a project too! (although it isn’t done yet in this pic) This is for my daughter.

I’ll leave you with this – and adorable video of Arwen calling to the cows that live in the field that borders Hickory Hollow.

    1. The girls are growing like weeds! We are having a great time with them! The whole front of the car looks so much better after doing the headlights!

  1. Family time, grandkid, coast and waterfalls!! Awesome! The headlight looks great. We tried that before but it didn’t last long. Hopefully yours is s better kit.

    1. Thanks! We are having a great time with the girls! I hope we get a decent amount of time out of the headlight kit – especially considering how long it took Bill. We had it done once at Sam’s Club for $35 and it lasted about 6 years!

  2. Always fun to be with the grandkids. Spoil them then give them back! 🤣
    Safe travels!

    1. They are at such great ages! (Arwen potty training aside!) They are like little sponges – they are so easily impressed by things we take for granted.

  3. How fun to be back with the girls. The cow calling is adorable :-))) Pretty blanket, I love the color.

    1. Thanks Jodee! I just had to share the video clip of Arwen – she was so excited and adorable. Michelle was happy with the throw – so I was happy about it too!
