EXTRA! EXTRA! READ ALL ABOUT IT!

Bill and I have some very exciting news to share! Keep reading to get the whole story!

Let me start at the beginning. Four score and 7 years ago… Oh wait – wrong begining!

Bill and I met Greg & Cori back in September 2013. Well, in person anyway. Cori and I had been chatting via a forum for a few months before that. We were both in the process of making the decision to sell most of our worldly goods and live full-time in an RV, traveling to see all there was to see in this beautiful country of ours. During one of our chats, we came to realize we lived only about 40 minutes away from one another, and we would both be going to the Hershey RV Show in Harrisburg PA.

Neither of us discussed it with our spouse first, we just made a plan to meet at one of the seminars. Very public in case either of us was super weird or sending bad vibes.

The day came and I was super excited! Bill was less excited to meet “internet” people. He grilled me the entire hour drive “Who are they?” “Why are we meeting them?” etc. We parked and found our way to where we were meeting up with Cori & Greg. We met them inside the seminar space. Cori had mentioned she would be wearing an orange shirt/sweater so she was easy to spot. I don’t know about her, but I was hopeful that our husbands would get along. I’m happy to report we all got along!

The fall flew by. Bill and I purchased our truck, an F350 diesel DRW XLT, lightly used with only 22,000 miles on it. We also found our new home on wheels, a 40′ Heartland Landmark 5th Wheel. Cori & Greg went in a different direction, choosing a 45′ Country Coach Class A Bus. We were all so excited!

We met up with them a few times for dinner, chatting away about the progress we were making to make our dreams come true. We both had already decided we were attending the RV-Dreams Spring 2014 Rally in Sevierville TN. The rally was a huge success and we made a lot of friends, who all became part of our “tribe.”

Greg had talked to Bill about his plan to start a new business adding solar to RV’s. Bill was intrigued by the idea, as was I. When we parked next to them in September 2014 after we closed on our house, we decided to be one of Greg’s first installs. Bill had researched it and it was the best/easiest way to keep our batteries charged, especially considering we had a residential refrigerator. At that time, our system consisted of 6 170 watt solar panels, 6 AGM batteries, a Magnum inverter, and assorted other components.

Over the course of the next couple of years, when we found ourselves traveling with Cori & Greg, Bill would help him with his installs. Bill enjoyed helping him and learning more about it.

In late fall 2017, Greg called with a serious question for Bill. “How would you feel about officially joining RV Solar Solutions? Bill and I discussed for about 5 minutes before calling back to accept! We agreed to meet up with them in TX at the end of January 2018.

The rest, as they say, is history. Bill has been busy with solar since. He has done many many installs on all kinds of RV’s. Class A buses, 5th Wheels, Travel Trailers, Airstreams, Class C’s, Super C’s, Class B vans, even a horse trailer and a Schoolie! Our partnership with RV Solar Solutions was a great fit for all of us!

Recently, Greg has decided to shut down RV Solar Solutions. He is ready to put his energy into other things.

So, our BIG NEWS is that we have opened our own business – RV ENERGY SOLUTIONS – to take over where Greg left off!

How EXCITING is that!?

Since our arrival in TX mid-February, Bill and I have been very busy setting everything up, including LLC papers, getting a bank account (including getting a credit card.) I’ve been getting credit card processing set up and putting together a brand new website. Talk about a learning curve! Thank goodness for the tech help people at Blue Host or I would never have gotten it done! Bill has also been busy doing installs.

So, I know I took the very long way around, but that’s the news that’s causing a delay in me finishing my posts about Ecuador (which will be back next week!)

I also want to give a special shout-out to two very special people – our friends Greg & Cori. Bill and I very much appreciate all that you’ve done for us since inviting us to join RV Solar Solutions. Its been a fantastic ride and we were happy to take it with you!

Check out the new website at: RV Energy Solutions

If you know anyone looking to have solar added to their RV, please pass along our name! We appreciate it!

  4. Glad to know you’ll continue to make RVers’ solar dreams come true!!! I laughed at your description of your first meet up with Cori and Greg and Bill’s questioning you about “who are these people”! I remember a few of those discussions with my Bill over the years :-)) Congrats on your big news.

    1. LOL! We’ve talked to others over the years about them having similar conversations with their spouses/partners.
And thanks – we hope to keep this solar thing going for another few years – part time – until we can get SS to kick in.
